Behaviour flow

A behaviour flow shows how many visitors follow a path through your website that you expect, for example Home, then Services, then Contact, and where they leave it. Use it to see which page loses most visitors before they reach your contact form or shop.

Behaviour Flow switch in Function Setting with Enable and Disable, outlined

Switch it on

The Behaviour Flow menu appears only when Behaviour Flow is set to Enable in Website Setting › Function Setting (see Turn on general functions). Reload the admin page after saving.

What it records and shows

  • From the moment you switch it on, your website records each page a visitor opens and the page they came from. Earlier visits are not counted.
  • In Behaviour Flow › Add Flow, you give the flow a title and choose its pages in order, one per step (Flow 1, Flow 2 and so on).
  • Behaviour Flow › Flow List lists your flows. Click Analysis on a flow to see, for a date range, how many visitors opened the first page, and what percentage of them went straight on to each next step, with a chart of who continued and who left.

Good to know

  • A visitor counts for a step only if they went directly from the previous step's page to this one.
  • The figures come from your website's own visit records, not from Google Analytics, so they will not match Google Analytics exactly.
  • Your role needs the Behaviour Flow row (see Create a role).
  • This chapter is a short introduction; it does not describe the flow screens step by step.
