Store setup
Before your online shop takes its first order, you decide how customers log in and check out, which taxes are added, how customers pay, and who gets a copy of the shop's emails. Most of these choices are in Website Setting; payment options are under Payment Method and the wording of the emails under Mail Template in the left menu.
Work through the tasks in this order the first time:
- Store-opening checklist: everything a new shop needs before taking orders, with links.
- Choose your shop switches: login, checkout rules, order numbers, currency, product display, vouchers and points, all in Website Setting › Function Setting.
- Set up sales tax and service tax
- Add a payment method: bank transfer, and what each online payment gateway needs.
- Get copies of shop emails and set a reply address
- Edit the emails your shop sends: the subject and wording of the order, payment and shipping emails, in English and Chinese.
- Close the shop temporarily: stop online orders for a holiday, then reopen.
Good to know
- Website Setting is one long form. Its Save button saves every tab at once, so check that you have not changed anything by accident on other tabs before you save.
- Changes in Website Setting apply to your website as soon as you save.
