E-Invoice

In Malaysia, sales must be reported to LHDN (the Inland Revenue Board) as e-invoices through its MyInvois system. Your website can send your paid orders to MyInvois for you, so that you do not have to type them in again on the MyInvois portal.

There are two ways to report an order:

  • An e-invoice of its own, for a customer who asks for one in their name, usually a business. The customer must be a member, and you enter their tax details on their member record.
  • A consolidated e-invoice, for all the other orders. Once a month you select these orders and send them to MyInvois together as one e-invoice addressed to "General Public". Orders from guests (customers who are not members) can only be reported this way.

Customers cannot ask for an e-invoice when they check out. If a customer needs one, they contact you and you issue it from the admin.

Tasks

  1. Set up e-invoicing: turn the feature on and enter your MyInvois details.
  2. Issue an e-invoice for an order
  3. Issue a consolidated e-invoice for the orders without their own e-invoice.
  4. Read the e-invoice list: statuses, checking the result and the validation link.
  5. Cancel an e-invoice

Good to know

  • The e-invoice screens are in English, also when your admin is in Chinese.
  • Your website does not email the e-invoice to the customer. When a customer wants proof, send them the validation link from the e-invoice's details (see Read the e-invoice list).
  • Once an order's e-invoice has been accepted and its validation link is known, the PDF of the order that you download from the admin shows an E-Invoice Validation QR code leading to the e-invoice on the MyInvois website.
  • Everything in this chapter happens in the admin only; your website's pages do not change.
  • Where this chapter mentions LHDN's rules, such as deadlines, they are LHDN's, not your website's, and they can change. Confirm the current rules with LHDN or on the MyInvois portal.
